Our land is under siege and the Queen has gone willingly with Carados a renegade duke who wishes to usurp us. His intentions are clear enough, to place his own daughter upon the throne; the mermaid Philomena of the Dudrassa.....
*He looks grim*.
We all know that Queen Eleanor is unfit to rule, her mental health though lucid and rational at times, has meant that we shall continue to govern in her absence. The issue is what must we do about this villain Carados, for his ruthless ambitions are a threat to the stability and security of Grimney itself.... If he is not thwarted we may be drawn into civil war......
*He gazes at the concerned faces gathered around him*.
Your thoughts please my noble ladies and gentleman of the High Council?

Surely Carados would wish to put himself on the throne first? His claim is stronger than his daughter's but only once the Queen is no more. Carados is more concerned with re-establishing the absolutely power of the Crown.

You never questioned the Queen's state of mind when she agreed with you. This must be solved with diplomacy. The Queen has written that her decision to visit Carados was for family reasons, why should we doubt her? As for this mermaid Princess... does she even want to be Queen? I always thought mermaids were too frivolous to care for ruling a country.
*She gazes around the room*
We must all remember that royal blood flows in both the blood of Carados and his half mermaid daughter.

My good friends..... The Queen is fraternising with a known felon and enemy of Grimney.... His forces march through our lands and we do little to prevent him from doing so.
*He pours wine from a golden jewel encrusted jug and drinks from a silver goblet*.
I have heard rumours that Carados has torched villages, and is waging war on vampires....Such actions put every human in danger... He's a brute of a man and should have remained in exile in Vorgania. We cannot allow this barbarian to interfere with the rule of law.
*He looks across the table at Lucia*.
The idea of a mermaid upon Grimney's throne is too shocking to contemplate..... Were Carados to rule, she would be next in line.... This usurper Carados must be found and tried for treason... His ambitions threaten us all. .

Carados was always a striking figure... so handsome... so controversial but popular with the masses. Especially the non-humans. If we wage an outer war with him there will be civil war. We cannot rely on Remus Casson, he is besotted with the mermaid and the Queen's Elite will split in two if the Queen calls foe their loyalty against us.
*She looks thoughtful.*
Perhaps if he could divorce and take a wife of our choosing then that would solve everything. Your daughter perhaps Dawlish? Remember Carados has never been charged and convicted of anything. The Queen would never ratify any declarations of treason. We need to take care how we proceed.

The Queen's Elite is split in three ways.... Renegade knights like Wexler and Keeler, seeking power through their misguided faith.... Elite knights loyal to us, and others loyal to Carados.... The Militia at least remains strong and undivided....

Carados's popularity with non humans is one of the concerns...... That alone makes him an enemy.... His looks are of no importance.... This is a Militia issue.... We can muster up our forces from all corners OF Grimney and destroy this duke and his army..... I am tired of playing mouse to his cat....

Didn't you try to kill Carados before... and drove him into the arms of a mermaid. Oh dear. I don't know. War is awfully expensive.

The Militia is divided too, so I have heard. Half are loyal to Thadeus Drax and the other are loyal to Kelleman Bolte... anyway do we really want to cosy up to Grimwood Scribes?

Yes, she was the one who caused the scandal. She wants to marry Venn Kalvos a former knight... he did win his duel though, perhaps this is the path the Zoriat wish?

You have a very narrow interpretation of the scrolls and you are not the only person of faith at this table.
