*The courtyard of Stormrock Castle is decked with the banners of Darl Thranmere and the Duke of Thranmere. A prisoner is chained in the centre of the courtyard, bound in such a way he cannot stand fully upright. Two stone throne like chairs stand on a granite dais. On the first chair sits Darl Thranmere who glares at the prisoner as he speaks to General Kiyasus on his left hand side. Philomena Aquitaine sits on the second chair, she is paler than usual and stares ahead in the distance as if avoiding looking at the wretched state of the prisoner. She pays attention to nobody, not even Vortigern Jett who stands stone faced at her side. The crowds jeer at the prisoner, those close enough spit at him and wait for the suns to begin to set, which heralds the start of the execution. *

"Darl stands up and pats Philomena gently upon the shoulder.
I will spare him disgrace Philomena.
"Darl walks over to the gathered crowd and reaching down he grabs one of them by the throat".
Spitting and jeering is not the Kanaran way!
"He grabs the struggling man by the jaw slides his fingers into his mouth and grips his tongue".
Bite me and I'll break your jaw.....
"Darl glares into the terrified man's eyes".
Spit again and lose your tongue.
"He smiles and raises his hand".
I am to wield the iron fist of justice. Not you....
Darl smashes the man in the face and sends him reeling backwards into the crowd".
This is not a circus!.....
"Darl gazes across at the bound prisoner".
This man's life is about to be ended.
"He looks back at the crowd".
This is a solemn occasion and if you act like animals. I will slaughter you like animals.... That I will do once the dread deed is done.....
"He sighs and stares across at the would be executioner".
Vortigern....

Slayger looks pitifully at Philomena".

Darl my beloved... the children... they should not suffer for their father's crimes.
* She turns white as she looks at the prisoner*
We shall see they are looked after... they will not suffer... I am sorry... I would show more mercy but it is not mine to give.
*The mermaid shakes her head sadly*
But Willow... what you did to her was evil... the Chaos Engine are evil... I remember your face, you took the ransom I paid but never returned her to the tavern. You cursed yourself with your own wickedness.
Do not worry your children will be taken care of, they shall always have a warm home and food to eat...
* She looks up at Vortigern *
I know you do what Darl has requested of you and for my sake you will remain by my side... I asked you to protect me from assassins and I am sorry you must take the prisoner's life to prove what I know about your friendship for me. My husband wants only to keep me safe. You have common purpose. Please remember that and what I said before.
*She offers her hand to Darl, who kisses it and sits in the chair next to her. The Princess grips his hand tightly anf fights the tears forming in her eyes.*
