Post subject:  GRIMNEY NEWS - DO YOU HAVE A NEWS STORY?
Today the Queen's Elite was involved in a battle in the Borderlands, it seems that Draygon the Scar has joined forces with the Land of Kanara, and Kanaran forces struck against us, and many of our Elite troops died repelling the attack. Lord Styx was leading the armies of the East and he inflicted heavy casualties against us, but we succeeded in holding back the invasion. General Frenton Garway was killed in action, he fought bravely but died of wounds after the battle was won. I have been informed by Garak the Spymaster that there are spies amongst us who desire the death of our Queen. We must be vigilant citizens, for the ruler of Kanara despises our cultured and creative land and wishes our destruction.

This is grave news indeed, that any would wish us and The Queen harm.
I am sad to hear of your losses.
How immenent is the threat to our safety? I know very little of the Kanara and had heard that Draygon the Scar was dead?
Worrying times. :(

Draygon the Scar is indeed dead, killed at the castle of Kayleb Kassell by a single crossbow bolt through the throat, but he had many children, and they were raised with the desire for war and blood lust. His first born Vashi, a ruthless barbarian, has adopted his father’s name, and at his death it will be given to a brother or even a daughter, and so on down the line.

Kanara is in the East, it is a backward land, feudal and cruel, it is entirely motivated by war, and has little interest in our more cultured way of life. It gains strength by domination of other kingdoms, and enslaves or destroys those that would stand in opposition.

There are many different lands beyond Grimney, Vorgania beyond the Dudrassa Sea is ruled over by the Vorgranor, ice giants who only move when the sun shines, for the heat melts their joints and allows them mobility, but they shrink as they melt. As the twin suns set they must add snow back to their bodies to rebuild themselves, before they freeze once more.

Yes, ladies, Grimney is but one place amidst many others, some are known, but most are uncharted.

Indeed dark times maybe ahead, spells may help, but they will need to be strong to repel such an enemy... I fear the heavy drums and the black flags that mass at our furthest borders....

I have recently visited the Shrine of Branmere, long thought lost, or a myth. I will not give it's location, except to say that it is hidden in the densest part of a wood in Grimney.

As the stories say, it is built within a cave. There are pillars made of a red stone, something between marble and ruby in appearance. Beyond these are a number of rooms that appear to form some kind of labyrinth (at least, that is how it seemed to me). Needless to say, I only went in part way, afraid of forgetting the way back.

I found a room that appeared to be carved from the bone of a huge beast. Within it was a dais, from which sprang an emerald flame. The flame was cold to the touch, and, when I prodded it with my staff, the end that was in the flame disappeared. When I withdrew the staff, it was whole again.

I have thought about exploring this further, and may do so at some point.

If anyone knows anything further about the shrine, please let me know.

We cannot afford to be distracted by these forces, to give them the attention they desire will only make them stronger.

A knew enemy is emerging and has lurked within us, around us and in ourselves. How long shall we be blind? An alliance is needed, bring all and you can, we shall be victorious whilst not casting revenge or punishment.

Cassius, thank you for the update.
I know something of the ice giants. Occasionally we feel their presence when the Coven are practising. They are a little less attached to their bodies than we are.

And we can use the spirits to look for weakness within these Kanarans. Within this new Draygon. Anything to keep this current peace; for Cassius, I do not long for war. I know what it will bring.

The Shrine of Branmere, I have heard stories of this mystical place. I am fascinated by your experiences. I have seen many mysterious things in my travels, but Branmere? Yes, I would like to know more.

Elvira, the Vorgranor are peaceful beings, but they do indeed possess great power. Perhaps you should enlist the help of other wizards like Wayland and unite with warlocks and witches to cast a wall of protection around us? Rainmaker could cast the runes and flood the wastelands with water to block the Kanaran advance.

I know little of magic, I am a knight of the Queen's Elite and the sword is my only strength.

At dawn I am am meeting with the Master at Arms, to discuss a plan. We may send in spies to find out what plans the Kanarans have in store for us, I might be tempted to seek volunteers at the tavern.

I know very little about Branmere. I only found it's name after visiting the shrine. Curiosity about the place inspired me to ask about it. Most people shunned me, but one or two brave souls told me what I now know.

I know that it is said to be older than anything known in Grimney, that it is considered an accursed place, tjhat it has a reputation of moving around the landscape.

I have heard that creatures are found near the shrine unlike any others. I have heard that people have disappeared in the shrine. Some never returned. Some reappeared years later. Of those that returned, some appeared never to have aged (and thinking they had only been gone a short time), others were changed into a hideous distortion of themselves.
