Thank you. I studied with the Master Henst Vetricon, a splendid example of his kind. Music is a passion of mine. We are not lost, at least not yet. I am Dayce Gorlan, and this is my companion Vedriss. I must advise you not to take in the water, we saw a young lady drinking from it earlier, and she become very ill.

I'm Vedriss, the Huntress. I never get lost. Not when I have the scent of my prey. He does play well, but in this realm the gift of music won't get you far, you have to be good with a blade. Why the questions? Who are you?

Why the questions? I am sorry if you thought I was being nosy, I merely meant to be friendly. I helped a witch who was lost in the mire recently and thought you might be lost too. It is easily done. Music.... Well some songs can be the most powerful enchantments and are deadlier than a blade in even the most skilled of hands. I'm Philomena, I run the tavern for Urat Holme.
Sir, do you think the water is contaminated? The water at Hobsbane was famously pure! I am most concerned if it is making people unwell.

Vedriss is quick to anger, silent and deadly. She is not fond of conversation. I do believe that she would disagree with you.
You are fond of music?
The only species I know that use music as a weapon are the Dudrassa mermaids, I just play and hurt nothing but the ear, depending on the tune.
I do not know if the water is poisoned. We have not been here long, but we shall be staying here for a time.

I don't need to make conversation. It's clear you want something from us. It's hard to sing without a tongue. Although I don't dislike mermaids, and never pick fights or provoke them. We're not here to cause trouble, we're simply passing through.

I'm glad you don't pick fights with mermaids... We have extremely good reflexes and I have learnt not to travel alone without a blade but I hate bloodshed and have no wish to fight.
Grimney is an unfriendly place at times, perhaps you find it hard to believe that anyone simply wishes to be friendly. I enjoyed your friend's music and merely wanted to listen to it. I love music and always welcome the chance to speak to musicians.
You are correct Dudrassa mermaids can sometimes use music as a weapon although the Sirens of the Sea of Lost Souls use it too. Music is so much more than just a weapon though.

Vedriss. Remember good manners. We are strangers here, and it is pleasing to be greeted in a friendly manner. Life is lonely enough, we do not wish to isolate ourselves further.
Do join us! A lover of music. So many of the simple pleasures in life have been lost, just being able to hear is something many take for granted.
I will play the flute, and you may share our supper. We don't have much, but you are welcome to eat with us. You can tell us more about the Dudrassa mermaids, my thirst for knowledge always needs quenching.
Would you like some henkel tea? It's herbs mainly, I make my own.

I simply reacted to what I thought was a threat. We are tired of being threatened. I shall not eat. I shall hunt. There is a forest near by and we'll need more food for morning.
