Goodnight, and you have been most generous. Safe journey, and keep to the twisting path, for you will find safer passage and torchlight along the way. May the stars guide you and the Zoriat keep you safe. Now where in the Land of Grimney has my colleague gone?

Very interesting. I sense many spells here, but they seem to give the semblance of danger whilst actually protecting your patrons. It seems to be the work of Alteron Torens. Do you know him? Famous for getting people wet in humorous ways.

Hi there Vorsini, how's it hanging dude? Not talked in a while. Hey Wayland. How are you? Alteron Torens? He's some kind of wizard. So I've heard.

Yes. A harmless old man, but with a strange sense of humour. He sends people on adventures up mountains, down caves and along rivers. You can be sure that there are many shocks and surprises along the way. And, although the people spend much of their time screaming, they always go back for more.

Sounds like a jolly person to me! I love anything to do with water. Although I'm not sure I'd like to go up a mountain, I get altitude sickness when I get too high above sea level.

Master Raven, I have been waiting, and the finest coffee is brewing... We must talk in private. I do like your hat by the way. Where was it made?

Master Wayland the industrious and illustrious man of science and the very magical Mistress Mermaid. Philomena, what's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet. You are a Grimney rose if ever I saw one.

I must say that you are three rather exotic looking individuals, just the kind of characters I like. The old fellow sounds like a showman, most agreeable to a man of my nature.

It is a most glorious day is it not? I hope the sunshine draws in the crowds, although the aroma seeping from the mire is a little too ripe to say the least..

Good day Mistress Mermaid, gentleman, I doth my hat in deference to each of you. Master Raven join me when you are ready.

Oh Mistress Mermaid, Master Wayland a brief aside, an elf gave me a coin, I handled it with gloves, and this morning I found that it had melted a hole in the material, had it made contact with my skin it would have done serious harm I fear.

I was wondering whether you or Master Wayland would have any knowledge of any substances that can do such things? A troublesome token from one who seemed so polite and friendly.

The Grimney Rose, you are not the first to call me that but I like it. Magical? You are one who has stayed with my kind in our crystal city beneath the enchanted waves, with such a birth right as mine could I help being magical? I do not seek more magic or power than I was blessed with, that is not my way.

An elf? Not Frenton Shyler perchance? I believe he is an assassin. I would advise, as would Wayland I'm sure, to soak the coin in water from Hobsbane. I have a spare bottle in my handbag, now wait a minute, here you go. I shall have to ask Jonas to bring this elf to the tavern, alive, to get him to explain his actions.

Master Treylain, I kiss my hand and you and bid you to remember that Holme's Tavern will ever be a sanctuary for you. It seems like they are moving to kill you already, do take care!

Hobsbane Water is, indeed, efficacious in most cases. It can neutralise poison and harmful magic. It even has a purifying effect on those that drink it or bathe in it, cleansing a person from any harmful aspects of their character.

I thank you for honouring me, but I am no more a man of science than I am a wizard, as others mistake me for.

Such abilities I have are gifts from my Instructor. I can only use them as he directs.

As to the nature of the coin, I have no knowledge of it. If you see a man called Glosnik Prawdy, his gift is to know the truth of things. He may be able to help where I cannot.

Yes, Mistress Mermaid, you will always be a Grimney rose to me, and your scent is just as sweet.

You see I was always enchanted by the ways of the mermaids. Beautiful beings. The Crystal City did indeed captivate me. Precious memories... I learned much during my time there, and that is what drove me to travel and gather knowledge. Magic is a great gift, unfortunately my skills in that art are based entirely on props, and trinkets, without them I would have no power at all. Yet, I can pull a green rabbit from my hat, a trick that always amuses at parties and other social gatherings. As the rabbit can juggle grimati fruit, ride a unicycle, play the violin and recite poetry.

As for the elf in question he was indeed called by that name. I am not used to such underhanded and devious tricks from their kind. Humans I understand, but elves resorting to poison is quite unheard of.

I shall ask Scroll for the location of the brigand and you can send in your man. Yes, thank you, do soak the coin... In truth I am glad I am alive, I would not have liked to have died for such a small price, as I dread the boredom of endless extinction.

Master Wayland... Yes, my colleague spends much of her time at Hobsbane, she is obsessed with beauty, and will do anything to obtain it. It matters more to her than anything in this land and any other for that matter.

Thank you... I should like to speak to Glosnik Prawdy if I may, further insight is of great interest as the coin may have had the potential to end my life, and I would like to know how dangerous the poison was.

I shall remember the gift of Hobsbane and bathe in it sometime soon Master Wayland.

A man of science? Delighted by the revelation. You do indeed look studious. We must share an ale together at the tavern sometime and talk of philosophy whilst smoking a drum of pipeweed.

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

Oh yes... A little knowledge goes a long way so I’ve heard. Or is it a dangerous thing?

Ah Vorsini Treylain, kiss my hand dear man. I am glad that you are safe too. Call me a Grimney Rose if you wish, I like it! Perhaps one day, you will come visit us beneath the waves once more. Speak to Evarne when she is in a good mood, she might give you a talisman that will help you visit us without drowning. I know one day we will take Silas Shantee down into the briny depths so he can spend his last years with us as he has always wanted. You must show me your clever rabbit trick and I will sing you songs that will bring the Crystal City fresh to your mind.

The elf does seem an unlikely poisoner. I am sure he is very frightened, he has failed to kill two targets now. When Jonas finds him, I mght pass him on to Gideon Drake but only if I can be satisfied that he was not forced into such treachery. Perhaps he has been enslaved in some way.

You must stay safe dear sir, if your death is important to them, your life is valuable to Grimney and its survival.
