Greetings and evening smiles Elvira.

Hmm, yes... Philomena, is a mysterious figure, she has certainly enchanted a few of the patrons. Sacrificed her necklace for Willow too! She has become very popular with many of the young men.

Philomena is most unusual as we don’t normally see mermaids in the mire, it’s certainly a one off. I often wonder where she sleeps at night, between you and me she is looking for her father. I must say that I’m keen to see the kelpies she speaks of, there’s not much beauty in the swamp, ugliness prevails.

Oh yes Elvira! Certainly, a large glass! Good to see you back, I had become a little concerned, when you don’t see someone for a time, you start to worry, as there is much to fear out there these days and nights! Although with your magical power and with the Coven behind you, you have little to concern yourself with.

Glad you have a new gathering girl, I’m afraid Monty Kelso was very unreliable, that night he was here he fell in with a bad crowd, and he’s not been seen since.

Isadora. Do tell me more? Will she be paying us a visit any time soon? Once she has healed that is? Who was this bad healer who hurt the girl? I’m glad you dealt with him, hope it is permanent.

Ah Wayland. Yes, another otherwordly. I’ve heard he’s a bit of a strange hermit, lives inside a hollowed out tree apparently, and spends much of his day sat upon a giant blue mushroom, writing stories and poetry and smoking pipe weed. :? Although, I hear all sorts of stories about Grimney folk, so I never know what’s true.

I shall watch out for these others you speak of, I’m not keen on posturing and sanctimoniousness. Mine is a simple life, and I enjoy a good chat and a tasty brew. That’ll do for me.

Strangeness? Oh yes, we do get all sorts of visitors here. Some are worse with the drink, but Devlin Tryst has not been back lately, I think he had a run in with Tanza. Still I wonder where she and Hogstance have got to? I heard they’d had an encounter with Bolt’s men, and several soldiers got rather chewed up.

Still no word on Willow, but I know there are two bounty hunters seeking her out. Although one of them is more interested in blood than money.

Yes Elvira. I shall see you later. I’d be guessing Darius Kane owes you a bucket of grimati wine, although I doubt he’ll pay up, he never has any money, as he can’t stop gambling and losing at cards! Take care for now Elvira. :D

Hi Urat
A large glass of wine if you please, Have you heard about the many newcomers to Grimney? some interesting characters among them I think,Lets hope they stay for a while and share more of their stories and poems with us,
Any more news on Willow? a large number of us are concerned about her and we are mounting a campaign for her safe return.

The wine is delicious as always, I'll stay a while and see who comes in :)

Yes, I too was wondering where Tanza had got to. I can't say I miss the constant misbehaviour. Morals of a common whore that one. Disgusting manners too! Let's hope she's eaten someone highly toxic - combustible even. I do hope Hogsy is ok though. Such a lovely young ogre. His cute green cheeks are very welcome between my bouncing bosems any day.

I shouldn't think Hogsy would have been eating anybody. He only eats his friends - and only one - his best friend. I'm sure he could devour something nasty if need be. Tanza, on the other hand, is a greedy, fat, hairy pig of a creature. Just look at her nose! If ugliness was a talent, she's perfected it.

Oh, I do hope she mends her ways and I hope she stops rolling around on my front lawn after a night at the Tavern! Is there a sign on my gate saying 'Hold your orgies here'? No, there is not. How many times have I come out in the morning to find all my lovely grass flattened. I will have to ask Wayland to tend my garden for a few days in return for a few bags of crops.

It's not that I'm a spiteful person you understand. I love everybody and everybody loves me. That's just how it's always been. Anyway, I must go now, I have things to do.

Elvira, I'm looking forward to meeting your new gathering girl. She sounds very nice indeed! Maybe she'd like to come over one afternoon. I could teach her to embroider or knit egg cosies. I don't mind one little bit! She was lucky you saved her. Things could have been very nasty for her.

Ta ta everyone!!

In response to some of the interest in how I live, let me tell you something of my home by Hobsbane Waterfall.

My home is near to the falls themselves, with a large field on the other side. I have a small garden where I grow herbs and flowers. No livestock of my own, although I have had some animals visit me for care from time to time.

My home itself is made of brick and wood. It has several rooms in which my visitors stay. I always have at least one.

I do not smoke and do not drink alcohol. This is more a matter of choice than anything. I never enjoyed smoking when I tried it, and I much prefer the taste of fruit drinks to alcohol. I don't take any intoxicants, preferring to face life's challenges head on with a clear mind.

Urat, thank you for taking the time to chat, as always, most interesting.

Mrs West, I don't know you personally; and if you keep on slandering Tanza I don't expect I ever will.

Whatever happened to live and let live... I thought you 'nice' people were all for life, love and happiness? You'd do worse than having Tanza on your side. All the 'I'm lovely' attitude in the world won't be much protection should you ever be in trouble; but Tanza would be!!

Thanks for the handicrafts invite but never will my girl be well enough to undertake such activities. Ever. :o

Wayland, your home sounds delightful. You should try a messy head sometimes though, it puts a clear one into perspective

Certainly, one large glass coming up Gwenllian, not used to seeing you in the tavern, you’re normally down there in the Poetry Vault what brings you above ground?

Yes, there are many newcomers in Grimney these days. I have no idea where they have come from... Most of them seem otherworldly, but are generally pleasant company.

Willow remains missing, I've heard that the bounty hunters have joined forces, and entered the lair of the Chaos Engine. Whether they return alive remains to be seen, but I think they are spying rather than taking the risk of an open confrontation. A campaign might stir the Engine to release her, strength in numbers, but I think there are thirteen of them.

Mrs West.... Before you go would you like a drink? Unusual to see you here in the Tavern. Tanza is well liked in here though, but you’re entitled to your opinion. Between you and me all of Bolt’s men are highly toxic.

Oh, she’s gone.... She never orders a drink, just seems to pour out her vitriol over Tanza. I share her opinion of Hogstance though, lovely creature, although Milgrave was in here earlier and was grumbling into her ale glass.

Ah Wayland, funny how stories start, I’d heard about the hollowed out tree and the mushroom, but your robes always look clean, and you don’t have the complexion of a drinker or smoker. Hobsbane Waterfall... Now that’s up in the Northb somewhere? I maybe wrong, I don’t tend to know much beyond the big oak door of the Tavern, well, I don’t really need to... As a soldier I only knew fields of battle and little else. What’s the nature of your magic? I know some warlocks like Darcus Ryalls, Montrasse and Berilious Bone indulge in the dark arts, but what of you?

Elvira, good to see you! The scent of strong perfume is cloaking the smoky air and stinging my eyes. I fear Mrs West may over indulge in that respect. I’m really not sure what to think of her, she seems.... Well, I really don't know... Hmm.... Hard to decide. Some people I can see straight through, their look and manner gives them away easily, but that lady, well I just don’t know.... So tell me something about you Elvira? If I maybe so bold to ask....

Mrs West, it saddens me to hear you being uncharitable to Tanza. We each have our path, you yours, me mine, and Tanza has hers.

We cannot judge others by our own standards, because we do not know their lives. The only standard we can judge is how we treat one another, which should always be with grace and respect.

You know these words, don't you, Mrs West? For they were your words to me when I was not long in the King's service.

You won your husband, Orguest the Merciless, by teaching him to respect others, rather than slaughter their villages. Ten kingdoms he conquered. Ten kingdoms. Then gave them all up for the love of you and the peace you gave him.

Urat the source of my power? There is no secret to this. I am connected to a spirit being called the Instructor, an agent of the King that I serve.

Of myself, I have no power. Indeed, the Instructor has guided me into a state of intentional weakness. This means I offer no resistance to him. That allows him to speak and act through me whenever he wants, including performing works of healing and power.

Every time I allow him to do this, the result is peace in one form or another. For my part, I have a life of joy in which every need I have is supplied.

It is the opposite of how I was enslaved as a boy. Zarko was a bully. The Instructor guides me into freedom.

Wayland your waterfall sounds delightful. Would you perhaps permit a nice young mermaid to swim there sometimes? Grimney lake is lovely but can be a little placid for a creature used to rough ocean waves. You haven't seen a kelpie there at all? I heard it calling during the storm last night.

Oh I am sorry to have missed Elvira, I hope to.meet her and all the Queen's coven soon. I might stay clear Mrs West though, there have been whispers about her house that I have heard by the lake.

Anyway Urat, a glass of my usual please. Have you seen my new necklacel? Such lovely emeralds don't you think? A gift from an admirer of mine, a salt merchant I think. He is rather boring compared to my dashing outlaw friend who sometimes visits just to watch me comb my hair, but then the merchant does bring me such pretty presents. Talking of gifts, I have one for you Urat! Here, a merman beard comb. Don't worry, it's not Enchanted but it will make your beard gleam wonderfully.

My goodness! How kind! I am not used to being given gifts, not unless I have to pay for them. :D

Yes, indeed your necklace is very fine. I do hope it does not attract the wrong kind of attention. Hmm, this outlaw? Does he have one eye for you? ;) I maybe mistaken. You have many admirers.

Regardless it is a very fine comb, and will sweep away the bread crumbs that often gather amidst the whiskers. Glad that it won't cause me to grow a tale!

Yes! A glass of your usual coming up!

I knew a salt merchant once, I think his name was Kyan Frith, he had a charming brother, I often wonder what happened to them.

Still, I'm sure you've plenty of time to meet the Coven ladies, among others. As for Mrs West I think there is something of the night about her. Some say she eats children, others have called her a witch, but I know very little of her character.
