But my wife has packed cheese and bread for us... She's never been one to let her old boy go hungry...

I need a swift horse for Vortigern but I wouldn't deprive you of an old friend. I will ride my kelpie, but I will keep him at a slower pace than usual.
*The kelpie gives a whinny of protest then nuzzles his mistress. His blood red eyes glare at the soldiers and he goes to the trough to eat some blooded meat.*
Don't worry, he doesn't eat humans any more.
*Philomena looks at the guards*
So you four are to protect me?

We believe you can take care of yourself Princess, but as it is we are assigned. We'll do our best to escort.
*He smiles*.
Stryder is my own. Only one of a handful of horses that made it safe to land during the great Dudrassa storm.
*Raif sighs*.
Lost a lot of good men that day too. But mustn't dwell.
*He looks around the stable*.
A horse for Vortigern, well there's Besk,
*Points to a large black horse, Hawk is grooming him*.
He can be a bit beserk at times, but he's strong and determined. Or maybe Chesco.
*Raif gestures to a white horse, her head down chomping through a bag of oats*.
More mild mannered and a little slower, but she has a steady stride....

You're a big strong boy... I like your dark eyes, they are like Vortigern's. You will serve him well. Slow and mild mannered never suits him.
*She looks over her shoulder as Vortigern enters the stable and grins. *
It never really suited me either. I always like a beast with the fire of the storm in his soul.
*Besk whinnies for Philomena's attention, stamps his hoof and nuzzles her. The mermaid laughs and kisses his velvety nose*
I think you and Vortigern have a shared spirit, Besk. He gets annoyed if I don't pay him enough attention.

So these are the warriors we have to protect.... I'm sure we'll get them safely to the castle Philomena. Unless of course they try to double cross us.

I don't have much faith in Kanaran loyalty.

Hawk and me will ride in front, you can stay in the middle with Vortigern and Raif and Arlan will bring up the rear.
