Out of curiosity has anyone dabbled in this famous role-playing fantasy board game? I have been playing it for just over a year and a half now and have never had so much fun with a board game before. It all started Christmas eve 2009 joking that we should buy a starter pack, after a few drinks, quick venture on amazon resulted in a purchase which made 2010 a fun year. I highly recommend that if you have a good few friends with a similar interest in fantasy characters and games, you really need to check it out and give it a go. It takes a long time to get your head around how it all works, but it really allows you to show off your creativity with new adventures each week or one massive adventure which could last months. For those that have never looked into it, here is the D&D 101. One player is allocated the "Dungeon Master" (DM) and his purpose is to design and create quests for the other players. Putting the players in a fantasy world of your own creation, where trees can talk or maybe demons walk the earth at night, your adventurers must travel through your campaign to succeed in whatever goal you set for them. Playing a mixture of various characters your adventurers encounter is a great laugh, mix it up with some cool music for battles and for certain scenes, it gets seriously addictive. I bring this up because it is that time of year again where I become the new dungeon master and therefore will be developing a new campaign and i'm giving you guys the opportunity to help me out. Share some ideas you would put people through and after each session (usually Sundays each week), I can tell you what happened and we can evolve and adapt to the new scenarios from there, maybe throw in a massive surprise from no where. You can't simply right out a path for your players to take as they are human, they can ask questions, they can challenge decisions, so you might have an idea on where you want to go, but if one player suddenly decides to take a detour to a nearby city, we need to change and adapt the story to allow this. Let me hear your thoughts! TheCardMaster P.S. For those that don't know I am Gavin's Nephew! |

I had the original 3 book set. The first game I played, I threw a torch into a darkened room and got killed by a hippogriff. |
