The Land of Grimney - A Community for poets, writers and artists :: View topic - Which two actors would you like to write a screenplay for?

I'm asking this, because I was recently inspired by an interview I saw with Kathy Burke. I enjoyed every minute of it and was glued to the TV for the whole time.

Amongst other things, she talked about Gimme Gimme Gimme, which I absolutely LOVED! She also said that Ricky Gervais hadn't been impressed with it. I would expect it's because their brand of comedy is so different.

Anyway, it started me thinking and I began to create this whole story in my head that I would put them both in, which would play to each of their great talents.

So, I was wondering what two actors/actresses anyone else would like to write a screenplay for. If you have more than two choices, that will do as well. I'm nosey.

Got me thinking, if I was fortunate enough to be able to write a screenplay I would definitely want Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston Would love to see how they would react to each other. Both totally different characters, could be good.

I like Depp, it's a girl thing, I like men in makeup. Guess I am supposed to be professional about the whole thing Tanza, like a casting director. I like Christopher Walken, perhaps stick him alongside Sandra Bullock. If I was going to write the script it would have to be comedy horror, or a dark thriller. I also like Frank Langella and Bill Paxton, I think they'd be an interesting combination. Satisfy your nosiness?

Actually, Raven, it's more of a concept than an entire planned story. I don't even think I could put it down in words yet. Plus...you might nick it and get mega famous. Don't worry...you can watch it on DVD when it comes out! I am going to try to draft an outline of it to keep for later use. My time is being squashed into little bits and pieces at the moment...I have no idea what's going on from this day to the next. Later in the summer, I will have less on my mind and less to do, so more time to concentrate on proper writing (if you can call it that heh). A lot of the time, I like to just whack in loads of words from my head and see how it comes out. I'm terrible at editing when I haven't got much time and I know it shows in my work sometimes. I'm very much 'wham, bam, thank you ma'am'...ahem. However, when I have a real passion for something, I take a little more time over it. Mind you, whatever any of us write here, hopefully, inspires others. Whether it's because it's a great piece of writing, or whether it invokes a reaction that necessitates a response, or even whether it's so weak that others feel they could do far better...it matters not...as long as it encourages. I'm not a great writer, by any means, and comedy is often my main aim. But...sometimes, isn't it just so much fun to spill out spontaneous insanity into the forum? You know it is. I'm liking the responses here. It's always interesting to see the differences in people's likes and dislikes where actors/actresses are concerned. Where one person might rave continuously about a certain popular actor, another might be completely fed up to the back teeth with having them cast in every film that comes out. It's also interesting to see a few actors' names that aren't as current these days. A lot of actors are forgotten, but would be perfect for a good, honest, well-written screenplay. But, I want more. Gimme gimme gimme :->

Johnny Depp just never seems to change does he? I think I find it easier to write plays if I have a particular actor in mind. It helps me get a feel for the dialogue. Talking of Christopher Walken, he is a brilliant baddie. I remember watching him in, of all things, Mousehunt, with Lee Evans and Nathan Lane. I really didn't think I'd like Lee Evans with a whiney american accent, but I totally loved the film and he did his character real credit. The whole thing totally worked for me. I don't think I'd be able to write for Lee Evans though. I could do a lot with Gervais. Has anyone else watched his podcasts with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington? I first saw them on TV where they'd been cartoonized. It made it so much fun. Now, I have them on an audio CD. Yes, I know what they all look like, but no way can I get their cartoon alter-egos out of my head while I'm listening. There's a lot to be said for visual impact, as well as good script-writing. Oh dear, I'm waffling. Again, thoughts dropping out and hitting the keyboard.

Sir Alec Guinness and Edward Norton. Simply because they're two of my favourite actors. No saying it would even work but I would pay to see the attempt.

Tanza, I think that's a great idea wrt writing dialogue with a certain character/person in mind. I've always been rubbish at dialogue (writing it, not too bad at speaking it!) and never thought to do that. I reckon it might be a good thing to try. thanks!
